HDF Energy Partners with Philippines on Hydrogen Tech
Manila, Philippines– Hydrogène de France (HDF Energy), a leading force in large scale green hydrogen infrastructure and high-power fuel cell manufacturing, has signed a Memorandum of
Leveraging its expertise, HDF Energy has proposed to introduce hydrogen as a potent energy source in the Philippines by developing a hydrogen power plant in Mindanao through the HDF RenewStable® Energy project in partnership with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa) (Peñalosa, 2023).
H ydrogen (H2) presents a unique opportunity for the Philippines' energy landscape. Using hydrogen as an 'energy vector' for industrial, power, and transportation applications represents a promising and sustainable solution in its ongoing efforts to address climate change and transition towards a cleaner energy future.
There are, however, attempts to pursue legislation through bills that particularly promote the use of hydrogen for Philippine use (Congress of the Philippines, 2013; Congress of the Philippines, 2019a; Congress of the Philippines, 2018; Senate of the Philippines, 2013; Senate of the Philippines, 2010).
The adoption of hydrogen and fuel cell technology has great potential for development in the Philippines.
